How do I apply?
Do I have to pay anything?
No, working as a volunteer with us is free!
What about housing and food?
Unfortunately we do not have any funds to cover your basic needs. You need to pay for that yourself. However, we will gladly help you find low cost accommodation.
How long can I stay for?
There is no upper limit for how long you can volunteer for us. But you have to stay at least two weeks in order to participate in the projects.
Do I have to speak Spanish?
No. Although it is helpful in order to communicate with children and staff, you are not required to speak Spanish. You only need to love and give!
How much does it cost to live in Santa Marta?
The cost of renting a room in an apartment in Santa Marta ranges from 225 USD to 400 USD, depending on size, quality and location.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner cost around 3 – 8 USD, depending on restaurant and / or kind of food.
I’m a vegan though…
Don’t worry. There’s a lot of places that serves vegan food. We’ll help you find them!
Do I get picked up at the airport?
Normally the volunteers get to the city themselves, and that cost around 10 USD. It takes around 25 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic, to reach the city of Santa Marta. We can also pick you up, and that will cost 5 USD, which is what the gasoline costs.
But I cannot come to Colombia… Can I still help out?
Yeah! We always need help with fundraising and publicity, so even if you are not planning a trip to Colombia in near future, please contact us. We would love to work with you! You might help us with:
